First HP Fanfic (HBP SPOILERS!)
Up late (or perhaps early, whichever you prefer). I've still not quite decided if I hate/love or just love the ending of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. All I know is that I have to have something to occupy myself with at the moment and now I'm posting my first HP-fic ever to be seen on the Net (not first one written though).

For those who still haven't read the sixth Harry Potter book: SPOILER ALERT! If you don't want to know what happens by reading a fic or other wayward comments I advice you to read no further here and go get the book!

Series: Whys, Why Nots and Other Questions
Title: Prologue, A Toast
Fandom: Harry Potter
Category: Drama/Angst (Possibly Pre-Slash)
Chapter rating: G
Overall rating: R (at the moment, may reach NC-17, not sure yet)
Pairings: Ron/Hermione, implied Tonks/Remus, implied Sirius/Remus, might become Severus/Remus and Ginny/Harry but I'm still doubtful of that, the story might as well take a completely different turn.
Warnings: Half-Blood Prince Spoilers are going to appear everywhere, beware! In later chapters: violence, death, Death Eaters at their worst and perhaps some sexual situations. Each chapter will have an "updated" warning if I have to add some warnings later on.
Summary: The shadow war lead by Voldemort is slowly moving towards its peak. Remus Lupin, Severus Snape and Harry Potter each have their own goals and will stop at nothing to finally reach them. In the end, who is on whose side?
Word count: 238 (Short I know, but it's the _prologue_)

Disclaimer: I don't own anything that has to do with the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling does.

Author's Note: I'm a Snape fan so this story will probably become rather Snape-centric and show him in a rather good light. If you don't like Snape you might not find this fic overly interesting. But I would really like to know if I'm glorifying him (or any other character) or writing anyone Out Of Character, constructive criticism is always welcomed and appreciated! Now, on to the fic.

A Toast

Remus held his glass so he could study the firelight reflecting off the liquid inside. This was it? Really, he’d thought it would look more impressive, or at least strange in some way. Nothing was particularly outstanding about the amber coloured fluid he now was in possession of.

Sitting down in one of the room’s gaudy yet scrubby armchairs he put the glass on the small table by his seat. He turned his eyes to the mantelpiece where some ornaments stood. On the table by the armchair lay three parchments and an old, rather battered quill.

Other than that the room was fairly empty, not counting the spares furniture that once must have been impressive but now looked slightly mouldy.

Remus had been staying here for two days now, a length of time that was becoming risky. He should leave and returned to Greyback’s “pack” as soon as possible.

He remained in his seat. Should he drink it? It hadn’t been tested, if he was unfortunate he could end up dead or severely poisoned with no means to get help.

Glancing over at the parchment laying on top of the small pile on the table his face set in a determent frown. Grabbing the glass he tipped his head back and downed it all in one gulp. Then he got up, hurriedly collecting his belongings and headed for the door, seemingly not noticing that he’d dropped something.

Why haven't I read this before? I'm on a spree ad commenting stuff I should have commented like months ago (because yay! I'm poking around LJ again). I'm even going to post art at communities when I've gotten ahold of a scanner (and when I've learned how to make cuts... ehe). Are you going to continue this? It sounds interesting and it starts with Remus, so you know I'm hooked in that case, but I know you're kind of off about Potter fandom. Anyways, seventh book coming soon, so I suppose it's going to get harder and harder to do HP stuff becasue we know all we ever thought is probably going to be CRUSHED in July *excited excited*. Ah well, interesting in any case.
